pride

i have no mileage to update, other than on the stationary bike today. Figures that as soon as I'd been feeling good enough to run, i'd come down with a cold... ugh. It's been going around, so it was a matter of time.

but i had such a proud moment today that i thought i'd share. My son found out last week that he made his school's first junior basketball team. So tonight was his first away game. This whole game schedule has been pretty last minute and up in the air, so all the parents are scrambling to make arrangements for pick up/drop off etc. Someone brought Terron to the home school since I wasn't able to get there in time, but managed to come in time for their 2nd game to start, and had made arrangements with another mom to bring their son back. Anyway... by the end of the game, I was driving 2 other boys... and mine. I happened to be driving along one of my running routes, so I made a mention of it in the car during one of the rare silences... lol. Terron piped up and told his 2 friends... "my mom ran a 1/2 marathon you know"... at this point, my head was swelling, and i was on cloud 9 like any mom/parent would be.

Then his friends chimed in ... "we know Terron, you've already told us like a million times..." wow... my kid talks about me, and not just about all the mean stuff and things i won't let him do??????????? i was proud of him, and think that he must at one moment, when he decided to tell him friends about my 1/2 marathon, must have been proud of his mom.

hoping i get over this cold quickly. i may try a short run tomorrow, will see how the day goes.

Oh, that is priceless! It warms my heart. It must feel so nice to know that your son is so proud of you. And he should be!
