Road Rash
Sidewalk Scratch
Watch for me on America' Funniest Home Video..
I couldn't decide between the above post title ... all of them would have been fitting. During my lunch hour yesterday I decided to go for a ride. Started off good... but i'm really missing running.
I'm getting much more used to the clipless pedals and comfortable with the bike, riding on busy roads, hills, etc, but still trying to master shifting the gears. I was coming up to a small intersection on a less busy street. I could tell by the pedestrian crossing sign that the light would change soon, so I slowed down a bit, and stayed clipped in, thinking that I could time it perfectly to have to come to a complete stop, and continue through the intersection as the light turned green. Seemed like a good idea at the time (I seem to say that a lot lately LOL), and probably would have worked out ok, but the light just wouldn't change! The flashing 'do not walk' sign on the opposing light just seemed to flash forever!

I forgot to unclip before putting my foot down, which just ended up in me and my bike falling over like a big tree....
Timber!
It could have been so much worse. I wasn't moving, so I literally just fell over. Only got a bit of a scrape where my leg rubbed against the curb, and bit of a bruise on my hip where i landed on the ground, and a bit of a bruised ego. LOL I picked myself up quickly, cuz now the cars were starting to move, the light had changed. No one stopped at the light bothered to see if I was ok, maybe because I got up so quickly... but I also didn't see anyone pointing and laughing, so I guess that's ok.
Anyway, going back to the sports injury doc after work today... hoping to get some good news. The visible lump that was on my leg is now gone :) Even doing self-massage, I can barely feel it. Jay came with me for my last treatment, and was surprised how deep the ART treatments go... and that my facial expressions didn't change. He thought I was just being tough cuz he was there. lol
I was given the ok to run on a treadmill, but haven't had the opportunity to hit the gym in the last few days, and really, haven't had the desire to run on a treadmill... inside a gym.... without a winter blizzard going on, with roads covered by snow and ice. I'd rather be outside. So I've just stuck with the riding, and will see what he says tonight. When I asked him about the 30k in 15 sleeps, he said it's not out of the question... keeping my fingers crossed. Happy Friday, have a great weekend.

Oh my... you have been through a rough bought haven't you! I hope the news is all good and that you are to still make it to your event! But healing up is the most important thing.
See... what happened to you on your bike is the biggest reason I have not bought one with the clip peddles! I am soooo afraid of falling down on my bike. I am glad you were not hurt too badly. I could have been wayyyyyyy worse!
I just went for a ride with my clips tonight, let me tell you I am no better. I learned the hard way to prepare for the traffic lights well in advance. Hopefully by that time I will have wrestled out of the clips. How do these people do it?
Ps. Forgot to mention. Glad you were not hurt!!
Ouch, Mel!!! Glad you are okay with only a bruised hip & ego. ;)
