For the first time in a few weeks, I had to be more conscious of what I was eating, as I had planned to have my first run back today. While it wouldn't be a "hard" effort, still wanted to make sure I wouldn't have stomach issues. It felt good to be thinking like a runner again.
First day of my plan was 10 min walk 5 min run 10 min walk 5 min run. All my gadgets on, including the Nike+ Sportsband which I recently picked up, which needs to be calibrated badly!!! More on that later.
I set out on my walk... started with a brisk pace. I kept looking at my Garmin, to see if 10 min were up yet, to see how it would feel to run. The anticipation I felt, excitement, a bit of nervousness, a touch apprehensive... felt like a first kiss kinda feeling. Finally! Time to pick up the pace a bit to a jog, a slowish run. I felt great! I think I smiled the entire 5 minutes, until it was time to walk again... repeat this a few times.

Leaves are changing colors, many having already fallen from trees, crunching under my footsteps. The sun shining, no wind, it was perfect --
perfect cuz I was out there.
I walked into the house, and Jay asked me how I felt. I told him that I wanted to keep going, wasn't ready to stop yet... but I know I need to take this slow. I felt nothing, not even the slightest twinge. Not then, not now.
I had done 4.1k... but my Sportsband registered only 0.66k LOL. I'd say it's a little off. I almost think I still prefer the Nike+ ipod kit since I prefer running with music anyway, but I guess the Sportsband is good for the races where ipods may be banned.
anyway, spinning class and weights tomorrow. The running plan actually starts on monday, so I'm thinking I won't run until Monday, repeat what I did today and start it for real, since there's 2 days off between runs for the first week anyway. It'll be hard to do the 10min walks again, but I know in the long run (pun intended) it's better for my legs to be doing it this way. If you wanna check it out, click here. If you have any thoughts on the plan, lemme know, your feedback is always valued. :)
Good luck on your marathon Marcy, Damian with your 10k and Nikki with your half!!! Can't wait to hear about the races! :D

Soooo good to read that you're running again. Even Mark is excited for you! :D
The plan looks good...nice and gradual to ease your body back into it. All of this cross-training you've been doing and will continue doing is awesome.
