Ok, I'm back. So where was I. Oh yes, running, the original topic which started this whole blog! :)
I got to the doc's office about 15 minutes early, but was taken in almost immediately. Noticing I wasn't wearing the boot, he asked how i've been. I was honest, told him I haven't worn the boot in over a week. I told him I've been shopping, many times :) walking around malls without the boot, did a kick-butt spin class last weekend, up out of the saddle many times; body pump class, all without pain during the sessions, or anytime afterwards. He inspected my first xrays, bone scan pics, and yesterdays xrays thoroughly. He tapped on my shin, ran his thumb up and down the bone, watching my face to see if my expression changed at all, if perhaps I was trying to cheat and hide the pain. I wasn't.
He asked me to take off my shoe, stand on my left leg, and jump up and down. No pain. I did it for long enough that he had to tell me to stop, I had long surpassed the point of proof. :)
I explained to him what happened with the shoes, my meeting with the area manager, and incorrect recommendation that I followed... he seemed somewhat relieved to know that I had a very realistic, possible and probable explanation. He said that as long as I don't start where I left off, which I never would have anyway, I can run again!! He said that my bones have healed up nicely!

All this, and I didn't have to beg, plead, cry or offer to pony up some cash! I'm so happy... and if tonight wasn't so busy, I probably would have gone out for a run to enjoy the beautiful weather... but my son started swimming tonight, so with the lack of a wait for the doc, and a very quick discussion, I was outta there.
I am off for the next 4 days, extra long weekend! Woot Woot!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone, now I have something else to be very thankful for! I'm glad I listened to his and everyone's advice. So thanks to everyone for the support, advise, and putting up with me. :) It's been a long 6 weeks, I know LOL
To those racing this weekend, good luck!!! I'll be thinking about ya as I'm out there starting my "return from injury training plan". While I can't wait to lace up, but I will be smart about this. I will follow the plan, which will include a lot of walk/runs in the beginning and slowly increase running over 7 weeks -- I do not want another 6 weeks off due to injury again, ever.
