part of history

Back in May, I ran the Sporting Life 10k down Yonge St. here in Toronto. When else would I get the chance to run down the middle of the what was once in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest road in the world, without being hit by a car but maybe trampled by 10000 runners LOL!

This is the only decent race pic ever taken of me, in front of one of Toronto's most iconic sites... Sam the Record Man.  Those in this area will undoubtedly know this well.... In 1997, the store shut down after going out of business; the building has since been sold.  Saturday night was the last time that the records lit up and spun, and tonight the sign will be taken down completely. Should you wish to read more about it, there's an article here.  So if another picture is taken from the same spot next year, the background will surely be different.  Neat to have had this captured!
