if i had anything left, i'd go swim

Lane swimming at 9:30 tonight... i really really wanted to go because the pool is 5 minutes from my house, and is relatively empty at this time of day. Makes me sleep like a baby afterwards and is a great workout.

However, I have just planted my butt on the couch. But wait! Before you judge, it's well deserved.

I have a friend from high school, and she needed a favor.  Prior to taking up running, I loved taking kickboxing classes, but never renewed my membership when it expired as I moved out of the area. Whatever, I took up running, joined the running group, stuck with them and became addicted. Typically a short time after I try something, my friend gets hooked on it too.... i take it as a compliment.

So, she has just gotten into running, but a few months ago started taking a few kickboxing classes. :)  Anyway, there's a kickboxing studio within minutes of where i'm living now, also close by her parents.  She did all the inquiring, and they offer a free class.  She's like me, shy at first, but after you get to know me.... hmmm, i'll leave it at that. LOL She didn't want to go by herself for the first time... so asked if I'd go with her.

So, met her there, and we cowered in the back corner. If i told you that I broke a sweat, that would be an understatement. If I told you that I did a few sit ups and core ab-work, I'd be lying, we did a LOT. If I told you that I could barely wash my hair in the shower afterwards cuz I couldn't lift my arms above my head, it would be the truth. I totally missed it. So we're both thinking of joining for a few months to give it a go, just for some additional cross-training.

So having said that, i think i'll leave the swimming for another day, when perhaps i'll be able to raise my arms above my head again  :)   Tomorrow's 25min run should be interesting; I'll update tomorrow...

I've never tried kickboxing before, sounds like a great workout. You are going to be such an ironwoman with all of this cross training!

I LOVE that feeling of being sore enough to hardly do regular activities. It means you did something worth while.
