note to self...

next time it snows for 2 days, turns mild, rains, then quickly freezes over night creating a layer of thick ice, don't pick a route that forces me to run on a sidewalk, up and down hills....  pick something flat, where I can run on the road.  (DUH!)

****to those who have read my blog for a while, and might be worried at this point that i have torn something, fallen, broken something, or anything else causing injury, i'm happy to report that i have not... appears that my luck has changed since yesterday.  :) ****

I'm always happy when a fellow blogger does NOT die running on icy sidewalks LOL

Are you in the Ottawa region?

We got about 20 cm of snow in Montreal but it hasn't turned into rain yet...

Or you could screw you sneakers, the way Marcy did.

Of course, not everyone is as comfortable as Marcy is playing fast-and-loose with sneakers they barely know.

Glad you came back from your trek in one piece.

screw your sneakers! :D

Ooh, I'm glad you're okay. Be careful! We're having weather like that (warm, rain, quick freeze) down here, too. I think it's the worst combination, sidewalk-wise!

oye those runs are not fun at all. I've got some YakTrax to review which are supposed to help in those conditions and few for the HBBC, so maybe they will save us all!

Sorry to hear that about the roads. Glad to hear that you have not broken anything, fallen...

Glad to hear that you're still upright and aren't doing as much damage as yesterday.

I trained for my marathon through a New Hampshire winter, the second worst in recorded history. I tried to stay on the sidewalks as much as possible because I was concerned that cars wouldn't be able to move far enough to get out of my way.

Get those YakTrax Pro's. They were a life saver for me. Felt secure from the first minute I hit the ice.

LOL! Glad to hear you're okay. I always worry about you. ;)

It looks nasty out there today... thanks for the tip. I will look for a nice flat, safe route for my run tonight!

YIKES! I'm glad you're ok chica! Be safe out there!

Glad you survived - way to get out there!

Wow. That is ugly weather. If it's going to snow, I would just prefer it to be pushed up to the curbs, rather then melt and give you the crap it gave you!

Yikes! Or just run on a treadmill when it's gross outside like that!!

You are dedicated. I have been doing the weekday runs on a treadmill. NOt ideal but better than breaking my leg or ankle four weeks before race day! Here's hoping for sun :)

i'm glad you made it home! you need to start soliciting funds from us to purchase a treadmill. i don't know how you run on the snow/ice!

May I suggest you pack up everything STAT and move to Hawaii where we don't even know the meaning of the word "snow" or "ice"?

Nicole said...

Glad you are still standing and not flat on your butt on the ice.
Can I recommend a Treadmill?

Glad that you are having better luck today. I was feeling so bad for you yesterday.

I have to admit, I always wonder when I click on your latess post. Stay safe (this will be particularily ironic after reading about my run yesterday!)

lol good job on not breaking anything. And yeah next time you might want to try that, I have never fallin' on ice before but it sounds and looks painful.
