Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Like the rest of the year, mine has been a roller-coaster ride of emotions. The good -- I enjoyed a great breakfast that my son made for me at his dad's place when I went to pick him up, opened some presents, came home, opened more presents, then went out for a short run... and the sun was shining! It was a wonderful change after a week of grey skies, snow, and rain. I got some great gifts, and spent time with my son and boyfriend. Spoke to my brother who is in Vancouver, my mom who is Winnipeg.
The bad -- I was saddened, worried and disappointed more than ever; all by one person who I've tried my whole life to please, but it never has and never will be enough. I'm not going to get into it all on my "running" blog. I'm fine, I really am, I just needed to vent and let it out. If anything positive is going to come out of my feelings, it's that I now see even more clearly what I don't want to become. I value family, love, health and happiness; not everyone does.
Ok, enough of the heavy stuff. Today, we went to check out the Boxing Day sales, which is the Canadian equivalent of Black Friday... and didn't find much. We avoided malls at all costs, and were home early, so I went to the gym for some weights and a bike ride. Will head out for a run tomorrow and see how my leg is feeling -- may be calling my sports injury doc next week for a followup. I'm still very unsure that everything is "ok".
Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays, food, and that Santa was good to you :)

Happy Boxing Day.
Sorry about being glum. Chin up. :-)
Cute photo!
Love the photo. The only help I can be is to remind you to "run more to feel better"
Sorry about the situation that makes your heart heavy. I hope it works out soon! I like the photo!
Your little boy is soooo C-U-T-E! He almost makes the snow look fun!
Glaven is gonna get you, you used a ton of metrics in this post....LOL...and Boxing Day should really set him off...heehee!
About the sad part...sometimes realizing some people in our lives are toxic, helps us be better people, better parents. It makes us be sure to tell the people we love that we do love them. Makes us give better hugs too. And this one is for you...(((((Melanie))))
Cute cute pic!
I always have to spend extra snuggle time with my kids when my own special family member (in my case, dear old dad) manages to disappoint me yet again.
Sorry about the disappointment, Mel, but I'm glad you still had a good day.
Awesome job sneaking in a run on Xmas day.
Love the photo. And, big hugs to you!
86 those problem foax right out of your life. If not actually, then at least mentally. What they say and do is beyond your control, probably, but your reaction to it is within your control. Refuse to be goaded by them.
For example, I don't let all those special nonsense words you Canadians use - like "centre" and "Boxing Day" and "Winnipeg" - get on my nerves & set me off anymore. If you people want to believe there's such a place as "Winnipeg", go ahead! See if I care! Why don't you just ride there on your unicorn with a couple of elves, eh? I'm sure it's a magical place chock full of "kilometres"!
SEE, KIM!? I can be supportive!!1!
That'll be $500, please. (Canadian $$. They're worth more.)
sorry to hear you were sad and disappointed at this special time of year. i am glad you are trying to stay positive and continue to be the sweet person you are. hope the leg feels good today, and keep your head up.
Sorry to hear you were feeling down. But you have the right outlook and you're priorities in order. Hope you have a better day!
This time of year certainly can cause us to feel a little sad...maybe its all that forced interaction.
Thank God there's running...and blogging. It's nice to know that we're not alone, isn't it!
Your son? Too. Darn. Cute. For. Words!!!
The shot of your little one having fun in the snow is gorgeous.
{{Hugs}} Sometimes this time of year can be tough. Your little guy is soo cute. Hope you have a great New Year Mel! Lets make sure that we meet up in the near future for a run/ or race!
