3 sleeps

wow, that countdown timer on the left just keeps right on going, doesn't it? I'm keeping my eye on it because I swear it seems to be getting faster, and maybe even skipping numbers while I'm not looking.

My run on tuesday was ok, not great. I hit the treadmill for a short run since I also wanted to fit an H2O massage in, and the calf was slightly bothersome, nothing major.  I did some yoga this morning, will try to get on the bike later today, and another ART session tonight, probably the final one before the marathon. Been icing lots, and resting. I think it's all been helping, because the one tender spot that made me cringe can no longer be found. So, while I'm not exactly feeling the way I wanted to going into the marathon, I'm feeling better than I was last week.

My goal for this, being my first marathon? Finish, enjoy the moment, and have fun -- as much as I can while pushing my body far beyond what I ever imagined possible or reasonable.

My ipod is ready to go, I have a playlist that I built for my 30k race, and added some additional tunes for the longer distance. 7 hours worth of music in this playlist... I want to finish running before any songs need to repeat -- that is my one and only time goal.  Damian; I really appreciate your confidence in me, and in the event that a miracle does happen on Sunday and I achieve the time you think is possible, I will be in much more shock than you!!

I'm sure I'll have at least once more post before Sunday, especially since I'm finding it more difficult to sleep already despite trying to go to bed earlier. I'm not nervous because I really have no expectations, but excited!! They're different, aren't they?

Pick a gear (pace) you think you can hold for 26.2, dial it down ONE notch and GO! Oh, and a slow jog is ALWAYS FASTER than a walk any day. One foot in front of the other...

Hey, I think finishing a marathon is a (not-so?) minor miracle, so I definitely foresee one for you Sunday!

I'd be super excited, too!! I know it's hard, but try to get some rest, even if it's just to relax. :D

You'll do great!

Have a great mothers day! Demand LOTS of hugs from Terron! He can't say "No" on your day! (Not that he would!)

This is so exciting! I can't wait for the report....good luck and have fun, like you said!

The one thing I've read over and over in every race report is the importance of starting out slow.

You can do it!

3 sleeps! That countdown is freaky because now it actually says TWO days, 15 hours... etc.

Bring Advil and lots of it. :)

Oh wow - that came up fast! You'll do awesome and I'm sure you won't need all 7 hours of music either! I see that someone else suggested bringing Advil, I'd probably suggest taking at the start line - always worked for me! Good luck and enjoy your last couple days of regular life...

I have goosebumps for you girl!! The first marathon is the BEST marathon. The time is not important. Having fun and completing it is what is. One suggestion: Load up your toes with petroleum jelly (Vaseline). I got a lot of blisters and lost 2 toenails after my first marathon.
