Also did plenty of strength and stretching too! Not bad for being on crutches until June 10th!
Guess what I got in the mail yesterday. Out of guesses? My MRI appointment date. No, not next week, or the week after. Not even next month! UGH! Sept 30th! That's 3 months away! I figure that I'll keep the appointment 'in case' I've managed to injure myself again by then. *knocking on wood* please do the same for me :D
I hummed and hawed about making the drive out to meet the cycling group for our Tuesday night ride. Since I swam and ran Monday, I figured it would be nice to get a ride in, especially since Sunday was a short but hilly ride, this route would have been flat. This whole week has been raining off and on... but was bright sunshine when I left the house. By the time I got to the 'parking lot', 40k away, it was eerily dark, and I was the lone car. Finally about 10 minutes later, someone else showed up and we agreed to wait about 15 minutes to see where the clouds would be heading. Another 2 people came (usually we have about 20-30) so we got out of the car to chat. Just like a cruel joke, the rain drops started to fall, the thunder started to roll, which only solidified our decision to say goodbye until Saturday.
Not a total bust though... learned something new. Women specific designed bike frames do not fit all bike racks for the car. One of the girls hadn't figured out how to get her bike into the car, bought a car rack, but it didn't fit. She came without her bike... happened to be similar to mine, so we played around with it for a bit, mine wouldn't fit either. Who woulda thought!
This was the view looking to the south, where I came from.
This is looking to the west... pictures really don't do it justice, but the sky was so dark.
By the time I drove back, brought my bike back into the house, figured out what to eat, changed, walked to the grocery store, made dinner and ate, I decided it would be a rest day (got a little lazy, caught up on some blogs and working on my training plan a bit). Jay and I are hoping to get out for a ride since neither of us are working on Canada Day... let's hope the rain holds off long enough!

FIRST! hahaha (I swear; I've never posted that on a blog before!)
September for an MRI...wow, and I thought I had been waiting long enough for PT. I agree, keep the appt, just in case :-).
Hmmmm that's a good point about WSD bikes. I just bought a bike rack...now I'm wondering if a new WSD bike will fit...
Have a great Canada Day!
Damn...Sept!?!?! Better to hang onto the appt just in case.
I didn't end up riding either. Musta had sympathy pains for you.
That's why I opted for no MRI, take care with your running, PLEASE start very slowly and short distances, promise???
WOW, 3 months away, that is crazy. Take things slow and don't push.
3 months out? that's crazy.
hope you get better weather for riding this weekend!
September??? And people here (NOT me)want the government to get involved in our health care system! Please.....
Nice month of stats considering it was really only half a month!
Happy Canada Day!
Hope the rain holds out!! Have a great day!
Please oh please DO NOT injure yourself in the next 3 months! Or the next 3 decades for that matter :)
Nice mileage, girl. More than me & I don't even have crutches!
Mel, have you picked any tri races yet? Let me know, cause I would love to meet up. I am thinking of a few-one is this weekend in Pentaguishene(sp?!) Another one is in Parry Sound on Aug 22, where Hubs grew up, beautiful but challenging course.
Yeah, keep the appt and hopefully you won't need it.
Great job this month. You've turned lemons into lemonade, I swear.
Whoa! September for an MRI?
That's a useful tip...you would think they would design bike frames better!
In Italy it's the same, you have to wait for long time before an exam unless you go to a private structure. Take care with your running and don't be in hurry, I made this mistake and I fractured my thigh bone.
GReat totals!! Darn dark clouds.. Happy Canada Day! I am a BIG fan of Canada after my trip to Vancouver. I sware the people are MUCH nicer than Americans...LOL!!
LMAO at Diana! Way to hit those RNC/Fox News taking points!
Good luck with the MRI
Sept?!?!?! Do they really expect to see whatever injury you have NOW on an MRI in 3 months??? Wow... Oh Lord...
Nice stats, esp on the swim & bike!! I really need to be hitting the water...maybe you can motivate me?? :)
You had a great month - especially for being injured! All that cross training, you are a rock star. :)
Hang on to that appointment since they seem hard to come by - you never know! Great job this month!!!
*knocking on wood*
geez that is a long way away!! hopefully you do not need it by then!
great job on june... you are really mixing it up now :)
You can buy a cross bar that attaches undert the seat and under the handlebars. That's how I put my kid's bikes on my rack. Sorry that your ride was a bust, but looks like you had a great month.
man that is a long time for an appointment! hopefully you won't need it - knocking on everything remotely made of wood/looking like wood for you! :)
stinks about the ride being rained out :-/ hope you enjoyed your rest day though. (i am soo behind on blogs i can't dig myself out!)
Between now and September I will probably have another 4 or 5 injuries. The time you have to wait is crazy. Just don't forget to put this on your calendar, I can't imagine how much longer you would have to wait if you forgot.
Happy Canada Day (do you get presents?)
Great Blog!
Take care,
Ron
Nice numbers!
Bummer that you didn't get to ride though.
HI Mel
What an amazing tally! Well done! It sounds like you had a well deserved rest. Looking forward to catching up on the rest of your blog now.
I love that you're one of the few that is ALWAYS there - rain, hail or shine - you're an inspiration!
Sucks about your MRI! I think someone has already mentioned the cross bar you can get, sounds like a solid investment.
Bummer about the rain! I'm sure a little rest day didn't do you any harm, though.
