asleep on the floor

Almost a week into August already, and I realized that I haven't posted my monthly summary for July yet. I remember the days when my running totals would far outweigh anything else... funny how things change.

Run Distance: 32.09 km
Swim Distance: 13550 meters
Bike Distance: 242.68 km

Last night was our run/swim clinic night. Run -- craptastic. Not much positive to say, and I don't want to whine, so that's all I'll say about that. Hit the pool for what would be my second night in a row of swimming, and worked on endurance. I did a 400 meter set, then a 450 meter set, both which are more than my Try-a-Tri distance. Amazing that I could barely do one length of the pool when I finally got back in the pool last fall! My arms were actually burning by the end of my swim last night, first time feeling that in the water, guess it really is a more than just a cardio workout!

Typically I take Thursdays as a rest day, but switched up my schedule a bit this week due to the pools being closed this past Monday for a holiday. I've been a little tired this week, sleeping a little too late, waking up feeling tired, hitting the snooze button more than once. So I thought that today I'd still take it easy, and do a little yoga; my body could use a good stretch. I had a break during the day, Terron was outside playing, so I queued up one of the yoga podcasts I have specifically for runners. At the end, when laying down on the mat in Shavasana, arms and legs stretched out, completely relaxed, I took it a step further, falling asleep on the floor! I'd probably still be sleeping, except that Terron came inside to get a glass of water, completely startling me awake. I nearly jumped through the ceiling! Relaxation over. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Talk about 'you know you're tired when'... that must have been some relaxing yoga! Actually, there are times when I've almost fell aslpee during a yoga class. Oops!

Your numbers are IMPRESSIVE! Great month, you multi-sport athlete you! I am so impressed by how far you have come with swimming in particular. Awesome!

lol! i have wanted to fall asleep during yoga myself before, especially in shavasana. you're already in prime position!

great stats for july! you need to post a "just-a-runner mel" photo and a "triathlete mel" photo for fun comparision. i bet all the extra workouts (and variety) are making you an even-hotter mama!

Ha. I've done that before where I fall asleep under the ceiling fan after a long hot run. Good times.

LOL, that's funny! You fell asleep. Could you be over training? You're really tired. ;)

My favorite part of yoga is deep relaxation at the end. You took 'deep relaxation' a step further - nap time!

Great training for the month! I identify with the swimming. At first I was so out of breath it was totally cardio. Now my arms and upper back get quite a workout. Glad you got a good nap in, too!

Hahahaha! Terron woke you! What a little terronist!

Wait'll you get to be my age, sistre! You won't need as much sleep. O, you'll still suck at all things athletic - like me - you'll just be able to do it on less sleep!

I'm totally f*cking with your head, sistre!

Nice job getting the sleep- ...er, I mean yoga workout in.

I have no idea what all those kilometre measurements at the beginning of this post mean.

Wooohoo on your July stats! Very impressive. Good for you hitting that snooze button a few times too. We all need to do that sometimes. :)

I'm impressed that you can fit all that running and swimming in your schedule, plus the yoga. No wonder you slept. I love yoga but I never do it. I should make a commitment to do at least one session per month.
