Mélange à trois

For those of you who wondered if yesterday's letter to Mother Nature did any good... the following may help explain:
sitting in the car...
I think she was pissed!! 5 of us showed up to dark clouds... typically we set out around 5:30pm. It started raining at 5:30pm. We ran back into our cars, bikes still outside, thinking it would only last a few minutes... during a brief break, we ran back out, and as the rain started coming down harder, we packed it up.

still sitting in the car...

We played the waiting game, thinking it would blow over quickly. It didn't. After about 20 minutes, we all decided it wouldn't be happening, so we parted ways. Having gone through this over the last few Tuesdays, I planned ahead and brought my swimming stuff. I went to the grocery store to pick up some Sushi to fuel up a bit more since I had an hour to waste anyway. I knocked out 2000 meters in the pool. All was not lost.

A few weeks ago, I got an email from the Janny at Pom Wonderful asking if I'd like to try their juice! Yay. Always saw the bottles sitting on the top shelf in the produce section at the grocery store, but never tried it. Why? Not sure, but wish I did. If you're interested in some of the health benefits, you can check them out here. I was particularly surprised about the prostate health, having recently lost my uncle to cancer, which started with prostate, and quickly moved to his lungs and bones. :( The antioxidant benefits are excellent too. I found the taste to be quite bold, full of flavor and a bit tart, and especially liked the Mango flavor (a little less tart). I'm not a big juice drinker, but compared to regular juice, it is more expensive, and for this reason, I'm not sure this could be a staple in my diet... maybe in a while as a treat though! Thanks again to the great people at Pom Wonderful for making a great, healthy product!

The following might only be of interest a) if you have an iPhone, and b) might be training for a triathlon (or maybe even going to any race!) I know I've posted in the past about all the 'stuff' I need to gather before leaving the house with this tri training, and for a race, I really want to make sure I don't forget something important! I came across a pretty neat application in the iTunes store called Tri Checklist. It's a simple app that breaks down the 3 disciplines and common items. You can use the default, create your own list and even add your own items, so for any upcoming race or event, it can help make sure you don't forget anything! Let's hope I remember to use the checklist! :D

POM is great but truthfully too pricey.

This weather has been crazy. When I left Ontario for my vacay, there was nothing but sunshine and warmth, now that I'm back we had one "muther" of a storm yesterday....hopefully August will be "da bomb"

Sorry bout the storm. YUCK! I'm not a fan of rain (yes, I do know where I live, have I mentioned that I'm a sunshine girl from Cali?). Way to get in some yards in the pool! AWESOME!!!

I'm soooo downloading that app! I heart the iphone!

Yuck, the storm more or less missed Durham. Good job getting your swim in! You rock! Have you decided tri or sprint yet?

Wow, you have some nasty weather lately for sure!
I was asked in regards to the juice too, but I am really not a drinker of juice-glad you liked it. I knew it was a little costly, I've always liked the shape of the bottle which made me look at the price...ouch!
Sweet app for the iphone, will be downloading that later!

I have a good friend that lives in London and he said the rain has been brutal lately. I hope it clears up soon and you get some great riding weather. At least you got to swim. Have a great week.

That's a cool application! I have the LG Dare but it doesn't have all the cool apps. :-(

Very smart to have a back up workout planned. Nice swim! I don't have an iPhone, but I do have a nice tri check list that I love. It makes me a lot calmer when I pack up because I know I have everything.

You thought I was kidding when I said Mother Nature's maiden name was F*cker, didn't you?

Well that stinks! Been raining a lot here in Florida too.

I need to go through and read your blog to find out what you're training for NOW....LOL

I hate rain! Boomer hates it even more. LOL
You sound like me, I would not have been happy being rained out. I would have done something else to get a good workout in. Good job!

It has been, indeed, a very strange summer lately. June and July was the coolest ever. I have not seen very many 90+ degrees (thats in Fahrenheit). I have no idea what the Celsius would be... 25??? There have been frequent storms here as well.

I love that checklist on iPhone. Perfecto! Thanks for sharing it.

I got some POM too and I like it, but I'm just not a juice drinker.

ick to the rain!

yay to POM wonderful. it is pricey though. i'm thinking of getting some and serving it to myself in a wine glass as an after dinner treat (vs drinking it like a juice snack)

Damn Mother Naturange. She needs to get with the (cycling)program :)
