it only took 4.5 months

while i can't help but giggle as i post this, it's really not all that funny.

For those of you who are new to my blog, I attempted my first marathon, on Mother's Day, in May. You can read about that adventure here. The day after, still unable to bear any weight on my left leg, I went to my chiro, who told me to go back to my Sports MD to get a referral for another bone scan or MRI, who I saw within the same week. He faxed the MRI requisition immediately, I was there.

Guess what I'm doing later today! I'm getting the MRI done. Finally. Yes, just now. Today. Welcome to our health care system. Phew! Thankfully it's wasn't something urgent eh?

Thankfully you don't have to read this thinking WTF did she do to herself now? LOL

When asked if I was going to even bother going for the MRI after weeks had passed, and I was slowly getting back to running, I jokingly said that of course I'd keep the appointment! With my history of injuries, at least I'm better prepared for whatever may happen between then and now!

Sigh.

kind of funny, yes, but also very frustrating! health care is screwy and unfortunately there is no quick-fix like some americans seem to think... (grrrrr)

anyway. hope the mri goes well!!! definitely glad you've gotten better and haven't had to deal with aches or pains these past four months. crazy.

Crazy how long things like that take, huh? There was a 10-month wait for me to get a mammogram that I'm getting next month. I guess it pays to be an endurance athlete ;-)

Hope there is nothing surprising in the MRI results.

i think I had to wait 10 weeks to get in with the orthopedic guy for my knee. I sometimes wonder if their strategy is to make it sooooo long after the fact that you then cancel...

patience is a good thing. apparently, being an mri machine salesman in canada is a good thing too. tons of demand? check.

I'm sure you know I could go on and on and on and on in regards to health care systems! I'll keep my opinion quiet! Anyways.....I had my MRI on Monday for my GI issues and let me tell ya, that sucked! I know they are small, but I felt like I was being cramped into a toilet paper roll-holy crap! Mind over matter for sure to stick that 45 minutes of hell out! Best of luck with yours!

Good Luck with your MRI, at least your sports med guy arranged one for you, my sports med guy just shook his head and said NO...remember Dr. No???

HOLY CRAP!!! We had our stress fractures at the same time and I got my MRI at the end of May! Crazy!!!! I guess on your side of the border you have to wait forEVER to get your "free" healthcare....while we pay the big bucks to get the insurance/immediate attention, huh? Kinda sucks either way. :/

Good luck - hope you're all healed up!

Funny, I'm in a very similar spot - just replace months with weeks.

Because of some stubbornness on my part and a few logistical challenges (work travel) I am not getting an MRI until 4 weeks after my injury. I'll have my fingers crossed for both of us.

That is really terrible that it took so long.
