oh, how i've missed you

here I sit, on my couch, under a comfortable blanket. It's 11:30pm, mostly caught up on blogs, thinking I should really go to sleep. Jay is out for a beer with the boys after playing a game of hockey. Typically this wouldn't be an issue, but tonight it is.

I hurt. Everywhere. (But it's a good hurt... I really really missed it.) Last Wednesday, I started my new training plan, a 12 week base building triathlon for the winter (a wednesday start is weird, I know, but the swim days on the schedule matched the Master's swim sessions, so I decided to work everything around that, since that's not in my control).

Figured that it was also the perfect time to get back to my strength training too, which I let slip away during the 'freshness' of triathlon training. Also, after some procrastination, I finally committed to Lisa's group challenge of 100 pushups. I've tried it once before, and stopped after a few weeks. Anyone that knows me knows that I ♥ my iPhone. Since "There's An App for That" maybe I'll be able to stick with it.

It'll all help with RunToFinish's HBBC Challenge! Starting Nov. 23, there's still time to sign up if you need some additional motivation to stay active during the holiday season!

So, after one week of a new training plan that includes swimming, cycling and running, 2 challenging swim sessions as the newest member of the Master's swim team, another swim session with the soon-to-be-completed-triathlon-clinic, weight training x 2 and week 1 of the 100 Push Up challenge.... I, um, cannot take off my bra right now, and am not sure how I'll even get my arms up to take off my shirt. I might have to sleep with what I have on tonight unless Jay comes home to my rescue here soon. Gah!

ZOMG, sistre, this is exactly how I like my Female Canadians! Wanting to be naked and muscles too sore to put up a fight once I get 'em into that mutually desired state!

So, what? No iStrip app? Your precious iPhone can't help you with THIS dilemma, sistre! Pfffttt! Typical computer nerds - can't come up with a way to get girls naked even in their applications! What a bunch of iWimps!

That's fine, though. Just more muscle-sore Canadians for me to take advantage of, then.

First? For realz?

Hands off, subsequent commenters! I offered to disrobe her FIRST!1!

I need to do the 100 pushup challenge. I'm not so sure I could do 5 right now. But I do like to wash my hair in the morning, always a difficult choice when you can't lift your arms.

I am fixing to get ready to think about committing to Lisa's challenge. Does that count? Yay you for your first week of your new training plan!!

That's a good kind of sore! And I'm sure Jay didn't object too much to helping you out. :)

You are working HARD! Good for you. You're going to get so strong! Hope Jay came home to rescue you. :)

Well, I have to say this really piqued my interest! Did somebody say "challenge"?? I looked up the push up thing, and no kidding!!?? They have a "plan" for that??

Hmm... this may be just what I need right now. I've been wanting to tone my upper body for quite some time now, and with no real equipment here, push ups might be the way to go!!

BUT... haven't tried the "test" yet, but I honestly don't think I've ever been able to do even ONE!! So we'll see about that... ;)

I miss the good hurt. Just totally loving it. Sounds like a good pushup challenges. I tend to do the pushups in the winter than in the summer. It is the only way to make me feel hot before I go out for my run.

Thanks for the suggested challenges - I am going to sign up as well. My arms are in need of some serious help!

100 pushups??? I bow to your superior strength, Mel...I could never do it. You should be proud of yourself...even if you have to sleep with all your clothes on, because you are too sore to take them off!!!

Wow. I need to take a look at that challenge! Sounds right up my alley! Way to go.

There is an app for that! Love it!!!!!!!! I heart my iphone too, who doesn't?!?!?!?!

So, I'd be really interested in your 12 week base building plan. Are you willing to share?

I'm going with the "stay active" plan for the moment and really working on strength training before I start my real training for Barb's race in February-ish. With that said, I'd love to see what type of plan you're using.

Sounds like we're both pretty addicted to Tri's!

I love the 100 pushup challenge! I need to take it again since I quit during week 3, in the "freshness" of the tri season. :)

I can't remember when I last had that awesome sore feeling. I'm obviously not pushing myself hard enough any more.

Go you with all the working out.

i love that sore feeling. moreso when it's in my upper body or abs (rare, lol). this week it's been in my legs again - silly squats! feel the burn mel! crank out those pushups!

So, here is the deal..... I think that if I tried to do 100 push ups I'd puke all over myself. So, make sure you watch out for that :)

Seriously though, that is awesome!!
