Inspiration Showcase: Episode 3 Whatever It Takes

Inspiration. Dedication. Motivation.
Perseverance. Kindness. Willpower.
Innovation. Determination. Bravery.
Human Spirit.

I started running in May, 2007, just before turning 30. Yes, I wish I had started younger, running, swimming, and cycling. I wish I had known about triathlon when I was Terron's age!

I wonder if Margaret Hagerty wishes she had started running sooner.... I can relate to her as a former smoker turned runner, getting started as a result of quitting.

She laced up on March 27, 1987, at age 64 like "an intoxicated orangutang!" LOL Her words, not mine. :)

Now, 81 years young, and 80 marathons later, including the Mt. Everest Challenge and Antarctica and a World Record Holder, she is sure to inspire! This lady makes me smile every time I watch the following video -- she is just awesome; just wanna give her a hug!

I can only hope to be healthy enough to do the nursing home shuffle at her age!!

Good luck to all those racing Las Vegas and CIM and everywhere else this weekend! Monday will be a busy day reading race reports all over the blogosphere I think!

How wonderful is she?! I felt myself smiling from the moment she started talking. Loved how she now calls her gait the "nursing home shuffle!" Great inspirational story, thanks for sharing :)

I hope I'm still walking at 80 let alone running marathons! Amazing. People like this inspire me to get my arse out the door even when I don't wanna =).

A lot of "shuffling" goes on at ultras. It's normal for me to see AND do that. LOL

That's a comforting look into the future! You don't have to grow old and decrepit, you can actually stay a runner!
