Double the fun... and uh, double the fees!

I never thought it would happen! First, I became a triathlete, and then Terron, my 11 year old figured, 'well, if my mom can do one, I can too!'  He did, and loved it!

So in late November/early December, as I was getting my 2010 spreadsheet started, where I will track my distances and make cool little charts, I scoured the local triathlon race sites to figure out race dates for both the adults and the kids' series. Now I trying to make sure that there are no conflicts in dates! Yesterday, I received an email from the TriKids series, announcing that the races were open for registration. Oh ya!!! It was at that moment that I realized that both of us participating in triathlon means that I'm also paying for us both too! Ouch! Expensive, yes, but SO MUCH FUN! I couldn't be more proud!

Quick update about the P90X... yesterday I started week 3. I'm still enjoying the workouts, noticing some changes, feeling stronger, and have a renewed confidence that my scale does know how to subtract! Awesome!!

I'm also currently on Week 9 of my 12 week base building triathlon plan already!  Monday will be my second of two scheduled bricks, which has been my ultimate struggle with triathlon. Running off the bike. My first one went well enough, but I ran into a few old neighbors and stopped to chat, so the gap between bike and run was longer than I had hoped... let's  hope I see no one familiar on Monday!  This was a training plan I purchased from Training Peaks, one of Joe Friel's plans... I'm thinking of purchasing the build/peak plan from there as well leading up to triathlon season, it seems to have worked well for me so far!

I'll be spending a good amount of the weekend catching up with what you've all been up to! The downfall of two-a-days -- triathlon training with P90X is that I'm falling way behind! Oops!  Good luck to those racing this weekend, especially Marlene (and other real life friends there with her as well!) doing the Goofy!!!

I have P90X, but I've yet to utilize it fully. I've done a few of the workouts though, and I'm sure they'd do me good if I stuck with them!

It sounds like you're off to a great start!

That is so awesome you've inspired Terron to 'tri' as well.
Great job on your training so far!

It's fun being so busy with workouts! I'm hoping to get my son to do a 5K with Mom this summer! He's turned into my pride and joy "swinger", now it would be awesome to run with him!
Congrats on all you're pulling off, most people this time of year just sit around with blankets and get lazy!

I don't know how you're doing P90 on top of the other training...where do you find the time? Keep it up!!

I volunteered at a kids race last summer and it was FANTASTIC. With so much childhood obesity, it is wonderful to see kids active! Raising a healthy kid is the best money spent!!

I've heard that PX90 is hardcore. Keep it up!

I love having an active husband but yes, double race fees is pricey! Totally worth it though!!!!

I think when you find a plan or plans by someone you like and like their style then stink with it!

I finally created my half iron plan and whoa it looks scary come may/june =).

i love the effect your triathloning has had on terron :) makes me smile every time!

ok, marathon training is time consuming enough (ie i have no life). triathlon training, i can't imagine. tri + p90x? and you work? and you raise terron? and you have a social life? you are super woman, but i've told you that before!

Great job keeping up with the P90X. My husband is wrapping up week 1 and I know doing that and getting the tri training in is very time consuming. You are doing great!

That is so awesome that your son is still wanting to train and race. Great for both of you!

Totally worth it!!

A buddy of mine just wussed out of a 1/2 marathon because he thought it was a waste of the money for him and his wife. Glad you are willing to go through!!

Wow, I can't imagine P90X training and tri training at the same time, esp. having heard how tough P90X is from a few folks who've done ironmans. Way to go!
