'Saved my butt' giveaway!!

Irritated? Itchy? Burning? Red? Discomfort? Yes, yes, you can buy eye drops if these were symptoms you were experiencing with your eyes... but what about your, uh, butt?

There, I've said it.

Cycling this year has been a little interesting. I've gotten a new bike, been out on the roads since February because of an unusually mild winter, and have had my 'character built' on more than one occasion. I've ridden in less than ideal conditions, including hot, humidity, and pouring rain, which only seem to make the friction of clothing on skin worse.

When I was contacted about testing out the Anti Monkey Butt Powder, I giggled at the name, googled it to make sure it was something legitimate, and once I sent my reply, hoped it would arrive as I looked at the forecast for the 75k Ride for Heart I recently did. As promised by the weather forecasters, it rained, a lot. Turns out that the package didn't arrive in time (no fault of theirs... crossing north of the border always takes more time, just gotten used to it), but was probably the last time I'll ever have any chaffing! It's not just for cycling either, check out the website to see other butt-busting activities it's being used for!

The lightly fragranced powder contains calamine and talc, and really work their magic! I have used it on every ride since, having setup permanent residence in the side pocket of the bag I use to carry all of my triathlon stuff.

$5.95 for a 6oz bottle, or $29.95 for a 6-pack, definitely worth it! I checked the websites for two local running stores which I go to often, neither seem to carry it, so I may end up having to do some research or buy it online somewhere once I run out -- because I will be getting more!

The only drawback that I've found, is that my cycling shorts are black. Obviously, the power is white.... so it does tend to leave a bit of evidence, a trace of a white around the inner thighs of my shorts where applied.  Otherwise, definitely two thumbs up from me... thanks for saving my butt!!

Now it's your turn to save your butt! I've got two bottles -- one of the original Anti Monkey Butt Powder for the guys, and Lady Anti Monkey Butt Powder for the girls!!

Contest rules: I'll be using random.org to choose a random comment, deadline is next Wednesday, June 30th at 6:00 EST. For entries, please leave separate comments for the following:

  1. I've been struggling with self-doubt lately (see previous post).  What mental training tips, or mantras do you use that help power and push through the negative thoughts and demons?
  2. Let me know what you need 'your butt' saved from!
  3. Follow me, or let me know that you already do!
  4. "Like" their facebook page!
  5. Go ahead and link this giveaway, and let me know that you have too.
Ok... going now. We just felt an earthquake! Um... I'm in Toronto! Holy cow!!!

I've heard great things about this stuff! Let's see, something I do to help me through my negative thoughts is just keep saying to myself, "You can do this, you can do this." I know it's simple, but it seems to work for me and help me through the rough times.

I have been a follower of your blog for a while. I liked Monkey Butt on FB. I am currently coaching two triathlon teams as well as training on my own for races so I need all the butt help I can get. :-)

As far as motivation goes, I coach for TNT so any time I feel like quitting, I remember that pedaling a bike is much easier than chemo.

Girl, don't let the demons win, you can do whatever you set your mind to. You prove it over and over and over again. Don't ever compare yourself to anyone else until they've walked a mile in your shoes and visa versa. Everyday and every event is different. The beginning of Try (or in our case Tri) is Triumph....do you're best that is what we all strive for! Our very best!!! *muah*

I'll pass on the monkey butt, but what a nice giveaway!

It was a 5.7 earthquake with the epicentre in Buckingham, Quebec....wow, what a ride!!!

When self doubt starts rearing its ugly head at me, I always think of 2 things. (1) Get busy living or get busy dying and (2) There are no problems, only solutions. I also find that listening to inspirational tunes like anything by Angels & Airwaves or Temper Trap usually gets me re-motivated and makes me feel like i can take on the world.

My butt is at all times in need of being saved. Putting 200+ miles a week in the saddle is a sure recipe for monkey butt and quite frankly, bag balm and chamois butt'r just ain't cutting it.

Soulds like a great product. After riding last week, my undies were rubbing a bit on a sore spot and I was so uncomfortable when driving 2.5 hours back home sunday.

However, I will step asside from this giveway and let someone else win!

Not a cyclist, but wanted to say that when I am having the self doubt I just continually tell myself that I can do it or that I am going to do it. This seems to help.

Mel, just believe in your training and yourself and you'll be okay! You've been doing a lot of quality training and inspiring folks and living life. You should be able to get a mantra from this..............

With my training leading me to the Oct. Challenge to Conquer Cancer ride of 1400 miles I stay focused on all of the Cancer Fighters out their fighting more than just mental demons. Fixes me everytime!

Great giveaway! I'm interested!! So let me see, what mental training tips can I offer?

I struggle with this one a lot but the biggest one is realizing that training or racing is a rollercoaster. For every down there will be an up. Figure out what you need to do to get back up!

Runner Leana said...

Ha, I need my butt saved from my bike seat too! I've been trying out chamois butter, but I think this may be more in line with what I need!

Lol! I can only imagine the kind of responses you got when you googled "monkey butt powder".

In Ottawa, we spent the week telling "where were you when the earthquake struck" stories.
