Hello Oly!

There are so many things going on in my head these days. From the 31st of August (my birthday), until later in September, (Terron's birthday), several days in between are marked my various monumental anniversaries.

In some sort of way, all three changed my life (and Terron's)... I'll be "observing" two of the three over the course of this long weekend!

Two years ago, I had an idea to do a duathlon on my champagne birthday. I rode, I ran, let's do both! At that point, I was still 'scared of the swim' to try a tri, but always thought it looked cool.

Unfortunately, a few weeks before, I found out I had healing stress fractures, so I decided to spend my birthday volunteering at the event, sporting my not-so-sexy air cast, instead. Within the year that followed, after having no choice but to get into the water for recovery, I got bit by the 'tri bug' and once again registered for the same race, this time a Sprint Triathlon.

That time, I missed the race because Terron's dad suddenly passed away the night before.

If the third time is supposed to be the charm, I will be doing the Milton's Women's Olympic Triathlon on Sunday, my longest tri so far, and my goal race for the year! The race, on the 1 year anniversary of my son's father's passing, no doubt reminds me to make the most out of my life, something I've been trying to do for several years now, after another major upcoming anniversary. Life is far too short, and we know not when our day will come.

None of this would have been possible though, if it weren't for another anniversary, this time  a happy one, that I celebrate on Sept 6th. 5 years since I quit smoking! Best.Thing.I've.Ever.Done. Never been so proud to be a quitter at something, which trust me, is not something I often do!

Having been inspired like never before this past weekend, I'm excited, and ready! Both my masters swim, and tri coaches will be there cheering 4 of us on too!! Guess I have to be ready!! Have a great long weekend everyone!
